The 3D Modeling Techniques Of Today

Thursday, January 27, 2011

The modeling techniques of today are the antiquated clichés of tomorrow. Seeing what is down the pipeline, and watching for emerging trends and riding those trends helps keep you employable and the 3D romance alive. Change is a big part of 3D-be ready for it. However, after having said that, make sure that you are not just a 3D technician. Incredible proficiency at a software package, but poor vision and design, does not bode well for a demo reel. Do target your demo reel.
Know Your Audience Once you have found the areas of 3D in which you are interested, make sure you know who else is interested in it. Watch for job listings at sites like 3Dcafe, HighEnd3D, and in magazines like 3D Magazine's annual "Get a Job" supplement. Read the descriptions carefully. Note their likes and dislikes. Watch for software preferences. Check out target company Websites to see work they have done and where they are going. Once you understand what your target employers are looking for, give them what they want.
If you know that you want to work in architectural pre-visualization, and every firm you have looked at uses Viz and Auto-CAD, do not spend the next year becoming incredibly proficient at Light-Wave. Developing your craft as a 3D artist is a never-ending process. Although the speed at which 3D technology is changing may eventually slow, it certainly is not showing signs of it now.
If you want to animate characters, create a demo reel strong in lots of moving characters. A house looking for character animators probably does not care if you have a perfect grasp of different refractive qualities of different sorts of glass-so do not include a lot of glass renders. If you want to be a compositor artist, have lots of compositing examples.
Animation houses are deadline oriented, and as such, do not have a lot of time to waste on chunks of demo reel that have nothing to do with the job at hand. In addition, some animation houses have very specific requirements for reels. Some want to see completed stories, some want to see snips of lots of different projects, and some want to see a project from wireframe renders to final raytraced versions. Some want reels less than one minute, while others want to see more.
Find out what your target wants and make it right. Do develop your own style. Artistic vision is often lost as beginning 3D artists struggle with grasping the technical demands of the software. Break through the level of work listed in software or book tutorials. Without your own style of modeling, texturing, animation, or design, your demo reel will feel like the other 50 reels the employer received that day.

3D Animation Design - How to Start Animating

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

With the recent rise in the popularity of 3D animation, many people have started to take interest with the topic. Some even want to try designing their own animations. The steps involved in designing animation shorts, whether it be cartoons or full on 3D, are nearly exactly the same as movie production.
The steps involved in creating an animation are as follows. First you need to sketch a storyline, then mold your characters, followed by sketching out the scenes and environment, and finally by actually doing the technical computer animation. In this article I will be talking about the first step in 3D animation, that is, creating a storyline.
Creating a storyline is without a doubt the funnest part of the whole 3D animation process. This is where you let your artistic side shine. There are a few things to remember though, in order to have a strong, co-coherent, and powerful storyline.
The Introduction:
The introduction is where you will introduce your characters and the setting. Introductions can take many forms but some examples would include: shocking the audience, grabbing their attention, setting the stage, establishing what normal life for the characters is, or finally, the introduction may include some vital piece of information that will be used later to unravel the whole story.
Rising Action
The rising action is where the conflict is presented. The tension will continue to build up surrounding this problem until the climax. There are many conflicts you could use such as man vs man, man vs animal, man vs element/wild, supernatural vs man etc. Whatever you chose, there must be a conflict that the main character must overcome or be defeated by, otherwise you would end with an extremely flat storyline.
Climax
This is where you get the audience on the edge of their seats. Will he survive? Will this overcome him? The rising action has been building up to this final showdown. The character will either succeed of fail. There is no "try". This scene should no doubt be the most exciting in the entire animation.
Falling Action
Many movies skip this part if they feel it doesn't fit in their plot. What this basically is, is just tying up some lose ends or finishing off some minor conflicts that the character may have been faced with. This often includes some of those side plots that occur along side of the main conflict that was overcome in the climax. Or it could include a final moment of suspense. An example would be something such as, a the hero and the villain clash, the villain clearly dies, but the hero is laying on the ground. Is he dead? Will he get up?
Conclusion/Denouement
A denouement is the french word meaning to untie. Some animations with complex story lines "untie" the knots left from the climax. In many cases used to explain what happened, why it happened, and/or how it happened. However, In the wonderful world of animation, the conclusion is usually cliche like "And they lived happily ever after." This is largely due to the fact that the plots are usually fairly straightforward and in no need of a denouement.

Women are very concern about their look. They want to look good everywhere and every time they go. It is important for them to have the best outside look in order to get full confident with themselves. There are many efforts that they can do to get their best look. Each of those efforts has its own advantages and disadvantages.
One of the efforts that they can do is by using the beauty products. There are many beauty products on the market. People can use the one that suits their needs, condition and budget. Many women try to use the anti-aging skin product. When people get older, they start to have wrinkles, dark spot and many other skin problems. All of those skin problems can be solved by using the anti-aging skin products. By choosing the right product, women can get younger-looking skin. It is possible for them to get the glowing and youthful skin, just like the famous celebrities skin.
The main thing to do is to understand about the benefits and the safety of the skin products. People should make sure that they use good quality of skin product that will not cause more problems for their skin. They can consult with the skin doctor in order to get the best result.

3D Movies Are Here To Stay

Sunday, January 23, 2011

As people enjoy watching movies and are eager to watch the newest movies, there is a high demand in the entertainment industry. It is probably because of the busy lifestyle we all have and people want some sort of entertainment at the end of the day, while movies offers them the entertainment they look for. Watching a movie is an excellent way to relax after an exhausting day at work. It is simple to enjoy a great movie from the couch, regardless if we are watching a comedy or a serious movie, as they all offer entertainment. Still, movies are not just simply entertaining, but they can also be informative or educative. A good movie can be the highlight of a boring or long work day or can represent the perfect relaxation on the week end. Without any doubts, people love and really appreciate a great movie.
As the number of audience is constantly growing, more and more movies are being made. It is quite frequent for two or even three movies to be released almost simultaneously. In addition to the usual Hollywood movies, the latest trend in the movie industry is the animated movies. Although, animated movies are considered to be movies for children, that isn't the case anymore, as millions of adults enjoy watching animated movies. Entire families are heading to the movie halls to watch such animated movies. Another highly popular movie types are the 3D movies. The 3D movies allow the audience to connect with the characters, bringing more life to the movie itself. The 3D movies are especially loved by the kids and it is a major success among moviegoers of all ages. As animated and 3D movies are an incredible success, producers are combining the two versions, as they have been proven to be more entertaining for the audience. Animation is always thrilling and people simply cannot stop admiring the 3D format. But now, people are asking for more as 3D animation is becoming something common. Let's not forget that the technology has been developed over years. As new technology is being developed several new and better technologies are being created. Technology is constantly evolving and evolving and thus we can watch some truly entertaining movies and the lovely and thrilling 3D animation format.
But what is so special about 3D movies? Undoubtedly, it brings more life on the screen and makes it feel more real and more alive. The movie characters seem truly alive and real. The popularity of animated movies is due to that fact that people get to see something they can't see in everyday life. Animated movies include such things as talking dogs, crying rabbits, singing chickens or talking horses. Animation movies also explore a wide range of various possibilities. It is both thrilling and interesting. It is considered that currently animated movies are a serious competition to the classic movies made with real actors. Actually, there are numerous actors and actresses whose career might be affected by the invention of animated movies. They claim there is almost no chance for error in the case of animation. Animated movies simply do not have bad acting. They only need good voices and numerous animated movies feature the voices of some of the best and most famous Hollywood actors. In the case of individual acting, there is plenty of room for error as nobody is perfect. Actually, acting is rather though, and plus, actors are constantly scrutinized by the audience. A successful movie definitely needs flawless acting. A good acting will ensure that the audience will surely enjoy the movie even with an average story line. However, if you have an excellent story line, but accompanies with bad or just average acting, the audience will stay out of the movie halls. 3D animation presents no such problem, as the acting is always perfect and people really enjoy it. Generally, 3D animated movies are sure successes, unless they have a really poor story line. Almost always, animated movies are very well received by moviegoers.

3D Animation Is Everywhere

Friday, January 21, 2011

The talent required to create animation is a fantastic gift. Actually, the creators of animation enjoy it, just as much as the audience. Previously, the most creative ones, were created through 2D animation, but currently because of the development of 3D technology it made possible a much better quality and it is also easier to produce. 3D technology gives the realism of real live, as a contrast to the advanced technological implementation of computing technology, making it fabulous for the audience.
Similarly to a constructor who lays foundations for a house, animations begin with a base or foundation, enabling animators to create and build on concepts or ideas they previously have produced. As soon as they are pleased with the developed ideas, they can focus their efforts on using 3D rendering processes to 'give life' to their animations. The 3D rendering processes used by animators is what in fact makes a big difference. They are responsible for turning something good into something marvelous.
Online 3D illustrations and 3D Flash suffered great modifications over the last five, six years or so. Previously, although the software resources were available, they had a great cost. Consequently, for the animators to create a piece would have to make a major investment for the software to be up and running. Currently, software is more affordable and more capable, offering many opportunities for both new and experienced animators.
A general false impression is that animation is only used in kids programs or in cartoons. It is in fact a huge mistake, as virtually anything that is manipulated using computer technology is considered animation. This includes creating plans made into 3D or creating a virtual car design. Animators don't work just in cartoons, but also in numerous industries.
3D animations really took of in cartoons, where is a new use for it. Various businesses across the world are presenting their expertise and supremacy in their area by making different 'flash' services or products making them distinctive using 3D animation. One concluding example from this point of view would be the various marketing companies that use a lot of external help for their company, services or products to look a bit superior. Naturally, 3D animation and rendering processes are precisely what they should apply if this is what they want to obtain. When you next look at a marketing company, or to any other company that sells products, observe if their brochure or website is eye-catching, and if so, is it because of the use of 3D animation? The implementation of animation rendering techniques will allow them to offer a new and improved look of their company and to differentiate them from the others.
Where else can we found such 3D animation rendering techniques?
Are you a teacher or have you been a student? Well, we all know that there are numerous ways an individual can learn new information. Typically, most students (regardless of the topic) have a very good response to such visual resources as pictures, books or other visual resources based on computer. In fact, due to the current popularity of computers and internet, there is really no need for a teacher. As an alternative, attractive and educative courses can be created to be used through a computer and then turn into something more pleasant to the eye applying 3D animation rendering techniques.
Where is 3D animation heading to? 3D animation, just as virtually any other industry is evolving very fast. Thus, a rendering techniques prefect today could be easily useless the next day. Software is the main factor in making excellent 3D animation. Any person wanting to join the industry or are involved already, need to recognize what is hot and what not, or they will be left behind. Keep in mind that software is not doing the work for you and the final product is going to be only as good as the one at the computer using rendering techniques.
Initially, 3D animation was in fact an operating software, but currently due to the advanced technological features and techniques that can be applied, it has become much more than that. As the software operator is more artistic and creative, the chances are higher for the final product to be a stunning success. Extremely powerful animations can be created with remarkable creativity, relevant experience in the arts industry as well as the expertise to operate great 3D animation software, implementing the right rendering techniques.

3D Animation And Special Effects

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

An exciting and rapidly growing area of 3D animation is not in story telling at all. Special effects, whether it is blowing up a ship, melting a building, or killing a person, are hot and becoming incredibly possible in a digital 3D environment. Having some experience in special effects is a good idea for any demo reel.
However, as the entertainment industry pushes the 3D industry, and vice versa, the paradigm and techniques are forever changing. Do not spend too much time on any one technique; it may be antiquated before you even finish your project. Students ask all the time for general rules for doing special effects. The general rule is that there are no rules. Digital effects are so often mixed with real-time effects or cinematography that it becomes nearly impossible to tell which is which, and which is happening when.
The general consensus seems to be: Use whatever tool works best for the specific chunk of the effect at hand. If you are really interested in special effects, spend some time working with real film or digital video equipment. It is difficult to digitally recreate live scenarios for a special effect to take place in, so it becomes easier and more effective to digitally place computer-generated effects into real footage.
Being familiar with film terminology and techniques becomes very important when dealing with special effects. In the realm of animation mortals, three general categories of special effects can be realistically produced:
1. Purely digital. Those special effects where all the characters and surroundings are all only extant within the digital world.
2. Live characters-digital surroundings. Virtual sets are becoming one of the hottest areas of 3D in general. Placing actors in front of a blue or green screen and then filling in the background digitally allows for quick and wide variation for a fraction of the price of building the sets with traditional nail and hammer. Scale of surroundings and the actual material are limited only by the imagination when the set is virtual.
3. Digital characters-real surroundings. As character animators have become better at their digital craft, and as the digital hardware has begun to catch up with the craft of character animators, the reality of purely computer-generated characters that interact with live actors has begun to be realized. Digital characters can fall off the edge of the Grand Canyon, be smashed by an oncoming truck, or fly. The insurance is quite a bit cheaper, and the makeup crew can take a break Of course, there is a variety of hybrids of the scenarios just described.

Film News: Disney Studios to Re-imagine the Classics in 3D

Sunday, January 16, 2011

Walt Disney Studios has announced that very soon, people could see some of its classics of the past reimagined in 3D. A couple of years ago, the company told film news writers that it had plans to revisit Beauty and the Beast in this way - but very little has been said on the matter since.
However, after a big year in 2010 with blockbusters like Alice in Wonderland, Toy Story 3, Tangled and Tron: Legacy - all of which were released in 3D - it has been revealed that both Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King will be launched on high definition Blu-ray 3D at some point this year.
The House of Mouse has yet to announce its official release dates for the movies, but what has been said is that the long awaited HD versions of each will also be packaged with 2D versions of the movie classics so that people without access to the still relatively new technology will be able to enjoy them.
Lori MacPherson, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, said that the company was keen to join in further on the 3D revolution by bringing content not only into people's cinemas, but also into their living rooms. "We will be offering movie- lovers the most incredible in-home entertainment experience they will ever have," she explained.
"In addition to offering new releases day-and-date in 3D and further cementing our leadership in the marketplace, we're thrilled that consumers will have the exclusive Blu-ray 3D experience of two of the most celebrated Disney animated features, The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast, in their homes."
Currently, Disney fans who do have a suitable equipped home entertainment set up have access to 3D Blu-ray titles including Alice In Wonderland, A Christmas Carol and Step Up 3D. It is expected that 2011 will also bring titles such as Bolt, Meet the Robinsons, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, G-Force and Chicken Little to the format. Of course, while no dates have been set for any of these, you can always check out their film trailers online to see if they are worth looking out for.
One of the biggest releases to hit 3D TVs in recent months has to be James Cameron's 2009 science fiction epic Avatar. According to the movie website Box Office Mojo, the film is the single most successful 3D film of all time and has so far earned a worldwide total of $2,781,132,032, which, of course, also includes the amount it has taken for 2D performances and home video sales. This level of success may also have been behind the decision by the director to retrofit his previously most successful film Titanic for a 3D re-release.

Animated Cartoons

Thursday, January 13, 2011

An animated cartoon is a short, hand-drawn (or created with computers to look something like something hand-drawn) film for the films, television or computer screen, featuring some kind of story or plot (even if it is a very short one).
Animation itself can be described as the rapid showing of a sequence of images of 2-D or 3-D artwork or model positions in order to create the illusion of movement. The effect is an optical illusion of motion due to the phenomenon of persistence of vision, and can be created and demonstrated in several ways.
It is difficult to believe but the very earliest instances of attempts to capture the impression of motion by drawing can be discovered in Paleolithic cave paintings. Here animals are depicted with multiple legs in superimposed positions, clearly attempting to convey the perception of motion.
Further examples can be seen on an earthenware bowl more than 5,000 years old from Persia and an Egyptian mural of wrestlers in action, which is approximately 4,000 years old.
However these examples cannot really be described as animation as there was no means of making the objects actually move.
The first mechanical devices designed to provide the illusion of movement were invented for children's amusement or as entertainment at private parties. These included the zoetrope, magic lantern, praxinoscope, thaumatrope, phenakistoscope, and flip book.
Charles-Emile Reynaud created the first animated film in 1892 while he exhibited an animated film consisting of loops of around 500 frames. This film is also outstanding as the first known instance of film perforations being used. His films were not photographed, but drawn directly onto the transparent strip.
However the first film which can truly be called an animated cartoon was 'Humorous Phases of Funny Faces' created by J. Stuart Blackton in 1906. It features a cartoonist drawing faces on a chalkboard, and the faces seemingly coming to life.
One of the very first successful animated cartoons was "Gertie the Dinosaur" (1914) by Winsor McCay. It is considered the first instance of true character animation.
All the main movie studios used animated cartoons of 5 to 10 minute lengths as "fillers" before the main film was shown during the time of the 1930s to the 1960s.Theatrical cartoons were in huge numbers and MGM, Disney, Paramount and Warner Brothers were the largest studios producing these 5 to 10-minute "shorts". However the ever blossomingh popularity of TV and the subsequent decline in cinema going has meant that today most animated cartoons are produced for television.
The most famous animated cartoon character of all is no doubt Mickey Mouse who was introduced to the world by Walt Disney in May 1928 in Plane Crazy but also starred some six months later in the first animated cartoon with sound - 'Steamboat Willie'. Incidentally, Mickey was originally christened Mortimer Mouse until Walt Disney's wife persuaded him to make the transformation.
Mickey Mouse, predated by another cartoon animal called Felix The Cat, made his first appearance in 1919. However another all time favourite cartoon series Tom and Jerry had to wait until 1931 to put in an appearance. All these characters and many more have long since made the transition from movies to television where, no doubt, they will be seen for numerous years to come

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Book Review

Monday, January 3, 2011

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, recently released on July 21, 2007, is undoubtedly the most widely-anticipated book of the year, completing Harry's seven-year journey through the wizarding world to confront his nemesis Lord Voldemort, along with a host of other issues. With any finale of such a monumental and popular series, there are bound to be victories, disappointments, criticisms, and praise for nearly every plot decision made by the author. The final product, though, is a remarkable end to the Harry Potter series, and a fitting conclusion to the problems raised in the previous books.
After reading the previous book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, numerous plot lines had been developed that left me worried about J. K. Rowling's ability to wrap them all up neatly and provide a satisfying conclusion in one more book. The issue of Harry Potter finding the remaining Horcruxes in the space of one book, while it had taken the previous six to locate and destroy only two Horcruxes seemed the most pressing issue. Additionally, the fact that no one, including Harry and Dumbledore, were quite sure what the Horcruxes were and where they would be located presented an even more apparent problem. Furthermore, Rowling used the theme of the Deathly Hallows to further the plot, and spent much time examining Harry's attempts to understand such universal themes as how to deal with death and the search for truth.
Remarkably enough, although not unexpected, Harry, Ron, and Hermione manage to locate the missing locket and determine where the other Horcruxes were hidden by Voldemort, including the cup of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw's lost diadem. Even Neville plays an important role in the fall of Voldemort by taking care of the snake Nagini, and Harry eventually learns that, because of Voldemort's attack on him as a baby, he is the final Horcrux. Learning that he must sacrifice himself to Voldemort in order to end the war is one of the more dark yet touching sequences in the book, as Harry discovers that Voldemort can not be defeated unless the part of his soul trapped in Harry is destroyed. Harry bravely sacrifices himself and manages to survive Voldemort's curse, causing Voldemort to destroy the Horcrux on his own.
The theme of the Deathly Hallows themselves also play a large role in the story, as Harry learns what they are and that he already possesses two of the three Hallows. He also learns that Professor Dumbledore made it his quest to discover all three of them, although his motives were not quite as pure as Harry's. Through gradual revelations of the life of Dumbledore, Harry learns that the exalted professor had just as many flaws as any other human being, along with an irritating tendency to leave Harry in the dark about nearly everything. But Harry eventually learns some valuable truths about Dumbledore, even though they may have been unpleasant truths for him. Instead of following in Dumbledore's footsteps and pursuing the Hallows to gain enormous power to defeat Voldemort, Harry makes the more wise decision to do his best to reduce Voldemort's power.
One of the most intriguing questions of the series has been the issue of Severus Snape and whether he was "good" or "bad." It turns out that the answer to the question is a not-so-simple "a little bit of both." Harry discovers, through Snape's memories, that Snape always loved Lily Potter and had turned away from Voldemort the minute that he threatened Harry's mother. Although Snape acted out of his selfish attachment to Lily, and emphasized Harry's resemblance to James Potter who had tortured him as a youth, Snape had worked with Dumbledore to protect Harry until the very end. His last act before dying from the snake Nagini's bite, is to give Harry the last pieces of the puzzle to understanding that Snape and Dumbledore's efforts to protect him resulted in Harry ending up as master of the Deathly Hallows, as well as the destroyer of Voldemort's Horcruxes. Without Snape, selfish and mean as he was, Voldemort may have proved even more dangerous, or Harry may not have learned some important truths about Snape, Harry's mother Lily, and even Aunt Petunia.
The two major themes of death and truth run through nearly every page of the book. While feeling lost and inadequate to the task of locating and destroying Horcruxes, Harry slowly learns about Dumbledore's past actions that reflect none too well on the professor. Dumbledore comes out looking as though he made some grave mistakes in his past, even touching upon the Dark Arts and the subjugation of Muggles, as well as having manipulated Harry for much of his life in order to protect him and lead him to his eventual defeat of Voldemort. Harry realizes that Dumbledore had led him to the correct path, but that it would be up to Harry and his friends to walk the path and overcome the problems faced along the way.
Death also plays a large role in the book, with several of the supporting characters entering the clearing at the end of the path by the end of the story. Hedwig, Mad-Eye Moody, Lupin, Tonks, Dobby the house elf, and Fred Weasley are some of the casualties along the way, along with a number of Death Eaters and their supporters. The book does not skirt around the issue of mentioning the war in the wizarding world, and in war it is expected there will be casualties, many of them bitter and seemingly arbitrary. Harry learns how to deal with the death of close friends and the importance of continuing his quest even though he knows more death may come before the end, but that Voldemort must be defeated for the war to stop.
The book used the challenges facing Harry and his friends, and the introduction of new challenges as ways to keep the story moving forward and to illuminate various aspects of previous books. Much more of the history of Dumbledore, Snape, and the wizarding world at large was revealed in this book than in any other in the series. Rowling showed that Voldemort's quest for power took him from the forests of Albania to distant caves to medieval towers and even to the desecration of a grave, all in an attempt to gain one more tool to escape death and kill Harry Potter. Harry, on the other hand, followed a quest to learn the truth about his family, his strained relationship with Snape, and the vague life and teachings of Albus Dumbledore.
Not surprisingly, Harry defeated Voldemort in the end by attempting to reduce Voldemort's power and understand the events that had so affected his life. Voldemort, as an aspiring immortal villain, trapped in an infinite present of gaining more power, was defeated by the simple disarming spell of a boy who understood the road he had traveled, leading from his childhood, though happiness, tragedy, and hope, on into a brighter future for the wizarding world and the Muggle world.

The Benefits of Video Marketing for Online Marketers

Saturday, January 1, 2011

Searching for subscribers and expanding your list is the main objective and concern of every online marketer. Strategies play a big role in order to attract the target market. That is why most of the list builders, if not all, join forums and write articles to capture clients.
Forums and article writing, however, cost list builders to spend much money and time. Think of how many writers and bloggers each list builders get in order to write as many articles to market their products and expand their lists.
